When a small Southampton bookshop starts finding anonymous receipts tucked into returned library books, the owner notices the amounts match items that never sold. The paper trail leads into a local network of cancelled orders, quiet grudges and one very determined volunteer who knows too much about everyone else's business. As the clues pile up, the shopkeeper has to work out whether someone is covering theft, blackmail or something messier.
