The Quiet Between Orbits
On a trade route where abandoned stations still carry the habits of the people who once lived in them, a salvage courier is hired to retrieve a missing diplomatic archive from a derelict relay. The job turns awkward when the station begins broadcasting fragments of old civilian messages, and the courier has to decide whether the archive is worth more than the lives and histories embedded in it.
