In a city where every household is assigned a public memory quota, Mara Venn works as a records clerk who quietly edits the past to keep ordinary people out of trouble. When she finds evidence that the city has been deleting whole neighbourhoods from its own history, she starts following the gaps instead of filing them away. The closer she gets to the truth, the more she has to decide whether memory is a civic tool or a weapon.
