When a widowed surveyor is sent to assess a row of condemned houses on a Coventry back street, she finds one property that should have been empty for years but still keeps a careful, domestic routine. The house appears to know the names of people who vanished from the neighbourhood, and it starts offering back the small things they left behind. Each return comes with a price, and the street itself begins to remember what was buried there.
