First draft
When a retired map archivist returns to a half-ruined house above Winchester to clear his sister’s belongings, he finds a set of annotated floor plans that suggest the building was altered to hide something more than old family secrets. As he tries to work out whether the notes are genuine or the product of a mind under strain, the people around him begin acting as if they know exactly what he has found.
