Behind the stories
Harriet Nash writes across mystery and cozy mystery, with a particular interest in character, atmosphere, revision and the details that turn a manuscript into a finished book.

When a late-running evening train is stopped by storm damage outside Bangor, three passengers are left sheltering in a closed station waiting room with a dead man who was not supposed to be on the train. Local librarian Carys Wynn, who only wanted to get home, finds herself noticing the small things other people miss: a switched bag, a borrowed umbrella, a timetable altered by hand. As the weather worsens and the station becomes a reluctant refuge, she has to work out who the dead man was, and why several very ordinary people are determined to keep their own stories tidy.
