When a rare-books librarian in Swansea finds a murdered donor hidden in a closed archive room, the obvious explanation is a burglary gone wrong. The trouble is that the missing item is not a book at all, but a page from a local case file that should have been destroyed years ago. As the library is pulled into an old fraud scandal, the dead man’s private reading habits start to look like a map.
