Sixteen-year-old Mara spends most of her time in the half-empty public library where her mother works night shifts, sorting returned books and pretending she is not counting the months until the branch closes. When a damaged, uncatalogued notebook turns up inside a discarded novel, Mara follows its clues through Coventry and starts uncovering what someone once tried to hide in plain sight.
