The Salt Road at Dusk
In 1840s Cheshire, a young map copyist from Chester is drawn into a covert journey along the old salt routes after a set of altered parish records points to a hidden cargo and a long-buried betrayal. As she follows the trail from libraries and counting houses to marsh roads and river crossings, she has to decide how much truth is worth when the people protecting it are also the people she depends on.
