The Lantern Map
On the edge of a fading trade route, a cartographer who maps jump-lanes by ear discovers that one of the oldest routes in the sector has started to lie. When ships begin arriving half a day too early, half a lightyear off course, she is pulled into a dispute between rival fleets, a ruined navigation archive, and the people who profit from keeping the stars difficult to cross. The deeper she goes, the more it looks like the route itself was built to hide something expensive and unforgivable.
