First draft
In a rain-swamped border town where the dead are lit by lanterns instead of buried, a gravekeeper starts noticing that some souls are being taken before they can be named. When the town’s old warding lights begin to fail, she is forced into the marshes to trace the theft back to the thing that taught the dead to answer. It is a story about keeping promises in places where promises rot.
