The Ash Ledger
In a city built on old debt and older graves, a clerk who records the dead for the crown discovers that the names in his ledger are being erased before the bodies are buried. Each missing name weakens the boundary between the living city and the hollow places beneath it, where something patient has been waiting to be paid. As he follows the trail through guild halls, plague wards and ruined catacombs, he learns the city’s survival depends on a lie that has already started to fail.
