First draft
After her mother dies, Mara Kerr returns to a half-empty Glasgow tenement to clear out the flat and decide what to do with the lease before the council does it for her. While sorting through boxes, she finds evidence of a long-buried family rupture that makes the flat feel less like an inheritance and more like a reckoning.
