When Mara Vale returns to the coastal care home where her mother vanished years earlier, she finds a locked room no one admits exists and a pattern of small, careful lies threaded through the staff records. As she starts pulling at them, the building seems to remember things its people would rather forget. The deeper she goes, the less certain she becomes about what happened to her mother, or why everyone is so determined to keep the past tidy.
