Behind the stories
Eliza Green writes across science fiction and speculative fiction, with a particular interest in character, atmosphere, revision and the details that turn a manuscript into a finished book.
A story does not need to explain everything to know what it means.

First draft
On a tidally locked colony where memory is stored in salt-grown records, archivist Mara Venn discovers that a routine preservation audit has erased a whole district of people from the official log. To recover what was lost, she has to follow the damaged records into the city’s maintenance tunnels, where the missing names are tied to a quiet conspiracy about who gets to be remembered. The deeper she goes, the more she has to decide whether truth is worth the trouble of keeping.
