First draft
When a failing municipal library in Coventry begins receiving books that were never donated, archivist Mara Venn notices each volume contains references to people who have not yet disappeared. As the catalogue grows, so do the gaps in the city’s memory, and Mara has to decide whether the library is preserving the past or feeding on it. The deeper she goes, the more the building seems to know about her own unfinished grief.
