First draft
After a long-time independent bookshop in Leeds is sold and stripped back for redevelopment, its assistant manager Mara Ellwood finds herself sorting through the unsold stock, old margins notes and half-forgotten orders left behind by the shop's former owner. As she tries to decide what should be saved, sold or quietly discarded, she begins to unravel the small betrayals that have shaped her own life.
