First draft
In post-war Cambridge, a junior cataloguer at a private lending library begins to notice that certain books are being removed and quietly replaced by others with altered inscriptions. As she follows the trail, she finds the changes are tied to one family’s attempt to control what can be remembered, and what must stay out of print. The novel moves between shelves, boarding houses and drawing rooms, where small corrections carry more weight than they should.
