First draft
When a rare handwritten index disappears from a small seaside library in Aberystwyth, the volunteer cataloguer who noticed it missing becomes the least likely person to investigate. What begins as a tidy local puzzle turns into a mess of hidden annotations, rival collectors and old grudges buried in the library’s records. The deeper she digs, the less certain she is whether the missing index was stolen for its value, or to keep someone’s name out of the story entirely.
