First draft
When a rare bookshop in Stirling is emptied after a suspicious fire, the surviving catalogue pages point to a missing first edition and a death everyone had written off as an accident. A local archivist with a habit of noticing what other people overlook starts tracing the gaps between inventories, receipts and witness statements. The deeper she looks, the more the case turns on who gets to control the story of a place, and who benefits when the record is incomplete.
