When a Lancaster archive volunteer uncovers a set of unsent letters hidden inside a sealed room at a riverside house, she realises the correspondence points to a disappearance everyone has agreed to forget. The more she reads, the more the house, the family and her own memories seem to shift under her feet. What begins as a private curiosity turns into a dangerous test of what can be trusted when everyone has a version of the truth.
