In 1890s Liverpool, a sharp-eyed compositor inherits a failing letterpress shop and discovers that saving the business may depend on working with the one man who once nearly ruined her family. As they restore damaged type, reprint lost notices and navigate the city’s competing pressures, old grievances start to look inconveniently like unfinished business. The shop becomes a place where practical repairs and emotional ones are equally difficult.
