In a city built around a living library, a damaged archivist discovers that some books are not meant to be read, but fed. When a chain of vanished readers begins to point back to the archive’s sealed lower stacks, she is forced to choose between preserving the city’s oldest lie and letting its buried dead speak. The deeper she goes, the more the library seems to remember her as one of its own.
