When a Durham bookbinder discovers that certain old street maps can alter the city’s hidden magic, she becomes the only person able to read the damage they are causing. As the mapped streets begin to vanish from ordinary memory, she has to decide whether to preserve the city as it is or let it change into something stranger and harder to control.
