First draft
In post-war Bangor, a widowed bookseller tries to keep her small shop open while the city changes around her and the old certainties disappear. When a damaged ledger turns up in a second-hand parcel, she is drawn into the hidden history of a family who once used the shop as a meeting place during the war. The novel follows her attempt to decide what should be preserved, what should be sold, and what truth costs when it finally comes to light.
