The House on Saltwell Road
When a row of condemned terrace houses in Newcastle starts producing sounds from behind sealed walls, a practical-minded book formatter named Mara Bell is asked to catalogue the contents of the last empty property before demolition. She finds a set of handwritten house ledgers that seem to record not just what lived there, but what was taken from the people who did. The deeper she reads, the more the house begins to treat her like part of its inventory.
