In Chester, a careful archivist discovers that the city’s old lanes are not just historic, they are being quietly edited by something that lives in the gaps between maps. When people begin forgetting streets, doors and even whole buildings, she has to work out who is erasing the city before it loses its shape entirely. The trouble is that the only reliable guide is a stolen map that changes every time she looks at it.
