Some people replace, some people repair, some people keep making do long after the sensible point has passed. That habit usually isn’t just about thrift. It says something about control, patience, pride, and whether they believe damage is a reason to walk away or a reason to stay and fiddle with the thing until it works again.
Useful little detail, that. A person who fixes everything is not always tender. Sometimes they just hate surrender.
