About the book
About Way In Over Our Heads
Black and June Torres joined the Chicago Police Department to try yo make a difference in people's lives. When they discovered along the way was a sharp racial divide and a community distrustful of minority police officers. What they learned in the police academy would not always work in the many diverse communities they served. Those life lessons wouldn't come from a curriculum. They worked with a cast of characters, and for a caste system, with different views of how the police should serve, and sometimes steered them in different directions. With personal problems of their own, they learned to navigate through a maze of scenarios that would benefit them as much as any form of formal training. Could their lack of maturity and experience lead them to be Way In Over Their Heads?
