About the book
About Two Eyes for an Eye: A Bruno & Salvanian Thriller
Frank Bruno is back from his walkabout. Rita “Sally” Salvanian is ticked off that he left in the first place. Really, really ticked off. Oh, the things those two can’t seem to say to each other. But that will have to wait, because a dangerous new killer has arrived in Santa Mariana. And one of our heroes may not survive their most chilling case yet. The Purifier. Some killers murder their victims one at a time. Perhaps in pairs. But the Purifier has killed dozens, maybe hundreds. Not with guns. Not with knives. With poison. Poison in everyday things like that lunch salad you had at your favorite burger place. Or the pizza you and your kids ate at a birthday party at that place with the big mouse. Or perhaps it’s in the cookies your neighbor just gave you. Or that sample of açai from the juice bar. Anywhere. Anytime. And no one knows where the Purifier will strike next. Bioterrorism. That’s what the Feds see, and that’s what brings the FBI to Santa Mariana. But the real reason for the Purifier’s actions is far simpler. And far less likely to be achieved. But the killer has promised to keep killing until demands are met. Bruno hasn’t listened to the news for months. He’s most recently in Barstow, CA, doing penance for the fallout from his previous case. He doesn’t want to come back to Santa Mariana, despite repeated calls from Sally Salvanian, and his young cop friend, Jaje, begging him to return. He’s content living a simple life, helping people with simple things. Not being a cop. All that changes when he finally answers a call, his friend Jaje frantic on the other end: “Bruno! Come now! It’s Sally!” The third entry in the “Bruno & Salvanian” series, “Two Eyes for an Eye” tosses your favorite wisecracking, dysfunctional detectives into the deep end as they race to find the Purifier and stop the snowballing body count. But they get blindsided when a straightforward murder investigation twists wildly into something else!
