About 'Til the Last Ember of Starlight

As Rilla settles into a new life with Aiden in Emberwood Kingdom, she's finally able to fulfill her dream of becoming a healer, working at a clinic to help counsel women who have faced past trauma at the hands of Terran. However, the routine life she's come to know isn't bound to last. The threat of war looms over Emberwood now that Carrick is emperor of Seracedar. Carrick seems determined to destroy Emberwood along with Aiden and Rilla's happiness. Fortunately, Aiden and Rilla have the formidable and cunning General Welder on their side as well as the Sacred Cedar Scepter, granting them the Will of Heaven. They know Old Grandfather Heaven has entrusted them with the responsibility of reuniting Seracedar and Emberwood and bringing stability to the Shyan people. Then Aiden's parents, the king and queen of Emberwood, are poisoned on Rilla and Aiden's wedding day, triggering the start of war. A letter from Carrick confesses that he hired the assassin, and without the assassin's blood to create an antidote, Aiden's parents will succumb to madness, followed by death. Furthermore, suspicions are cast on the neighboring kingdom of Fauxhemia for conspiring with Carrick. But Rilla realizes not all is as it seems. She believes someone else might be behind the poisoning. Someone who may have also caused more misunderstandings with Carrick to escalate the war. And Aiden is too distracted trying to find a cure for his parents to listen to her. Now Rilla finds herself heartbroken and left alone to save her people. But she finds friends in the women from the counseling clinic, who have also been training to become warriors. Together, they find strength in each other, and they must stop the true villain behind the war before he conquers every kingdom on the globe in his plans for personal revenge.
