About Thrice Petrified A Fantasy Novella

Some curses must be smoothed over, not broken. What if your home were cursed into stone? How far would you go to fix it? Forest fairy Raya dreams of journeying to the high desert, where fairies hunt and eat meat. Her upcoming trip there gets postponed when the sea queen pays a fateful visit to the forest. An unfortunate accident with Raya leads the sea queen to curse Raya's home into petrified wood. Eager to apologize and heal the forest, Raya teams up with the prickly, reluctant Shone, a high desert hunter. As they set off for the seashore, Raya learns of Shone's dangerous secret mission and must choose what she is willing to do about it. In this novella where FernGully meets Zootopia, shrink to pixie size with two strangers as they forge an unexpected bond and uncover the layers of a mystery that will forever change their world-and them. THRICE PETRIFIED is a fantasy adventure with slow-burn romance where two fairies will step up, despite their differing cultures, to confront shared guilt and growing feelings along the way. Join Raya and Shone as they venture beyond their homelands to learn what it takes to heal a broken world. ◆ Reviews for Katherine Quevedo ◆ Review of "Song of the Balsa Wood Bird" "A short story with a particularly stunning scene that's imprinted itself on my mind, a tale of hope and determination, and also of loss, all at the same time." - Reactor Magazine, "Seven Speculative Stories About Preserving History and Culture" Review of "The Menagerie Machine" "Quevedo offers a crash course in dealing with bullies and loving yourself, in [less] than five minutes-plus a dash of humor and nostalgia for all those carnival rides you enjoyed as a child." - Reactor Magazine, "Nine (Very) Short Fantasy Stories With Happy Endings" Review of The Inca Weaver's Tales: "For a mini-chapbook, The Inca Weaver's Tales feels complete, even epic, and with each reread, I appreciate Quevedo's poetry and exploration of heritage even more." - Richard Leis, Fantasy Author ◆ More by Katherine Quevedo ◆ MYRIAD LANDS VOL. 2: BEYOND THE EDGE - This anthology of fantasy tales set in imaginative other-worlds features a story by Katherine Quevedo, "Venom in the Cloud Forest," in which a villager in a misty, high-altitude rainforest must discover who poisoned him and why before his fever takes control. "DESERT LOCKS" - This short story from GigaNotoSaurus takes place in a society where magic requires strands of hair for casting spells. A "shrouder" investigates the disappearances of his brethren, along with a new procedure that promises to destroy all hair roots, but at a cost.
