Mario Manzetti wanted the same as every poor young Sicilian in 1930's New York- a chance at the American dream. Instead, he crosses the wrong people and gets locked up inside the infamous Louisiana State Penitentiary, nicknamed Angola. But he is no ordinary prisoner, he is a zoolinguist, with a fantastic ability to communicate with animals. Befriending the inmate in the cell next door by recounting his life story, they hatch an escape plan. However, time is running out, as a duo of mysterious government agents is hot on his trail and hell-bent on capturing him.
