About The Zoolinguist
Mario Manzetti wanted the same as every poor young Sicilian in 1930's New York- a chance at the American dream. Instead, he crosses the wrong people and gets locked up inside the infamous Louisiana State Penitentiary, nicknamed Angola. But he is no ordinary prisoner, he is a zoolinguist, with a fantastic ability to communicate with animals. Befriending the inmate in the cell next door by recounting his life story, they hatch an escape plan. However, time is running out, as a duo of mysterious government agents is hot on his trail and hell-bent on capturing him. Mario will have to use every ounce of his cunning magical ability in order to escape the prison and dodge the agents. There is never a dull moment in the life of a zoolinguist! ***Tell me, reader. Why would you come to read such a tale? Is it perhaps because you still believe, like I do, that there is magic left in the world? Perhaps you want to see the spectacular? The fantastic! Because in our modern world of moving pictures, that cheat your eyes with camera tricks... in our modern world, where museums expose the lost secrets of the ancient pharaohs, reducing their mysterious splendour- to rotting corpses in glass cases. A world of submarines and aero planes! Of skyscrapers and subway cars! A world filled with electric magic, shining into every corner of mankind, illuminating that which was once left dark and mysterious. I ask you... is there any real magic left?"-Blackie, Ringleader of the Beasley Brothers Circus.**I do believe that there is still magic left in the world, and it lies within our hearts and imaginations. This book will hopefully bring a little of it back to you. - S.A.
