We were the perfect couple. Or we should have been anyway. Everyone could see it dancing in our eyes: our perfect wedding, the white picket fence... High school sweethearts, soulmates. The American dream. But life had other plans. When my whole family unraveled, I came undone too. What was left of me didn't know how to be loved by him anymore. That was almost ten years ago. My first love, no matter how perfect it was, is ancient history now. Until life brings me back to where it all started. The moment I see him it all comes rushing back. The questions of what might have been leave me breathless and broken. But I know how he sees me now. The same way everyone else does. A successful woman who uses men like toys. No one knows the truth... That no ever compared to him. I've never been able to bring myself to give another man... the part of me that was promised to him, that was meant for him and only him. I'm not delusional enough to think we can have a happy ending now. But when I look into his eyes, my heart so desperately wants to believe it's possible.
