At the middle of all this is the Immortal - the Heir of Quilatroy, who alone is unaffected by the Surkling, and who can change its form so as to deny its power. But can he win the Surkling from the Dark King? This tale has the feel of ancient Greece, Egypt and Rome, and all the resonance of a fairy tale.
