The Stairwell is a British psychological horror / suspense thriller novel. Brandon Chapman arrives home to a horrific scene. His wife is exhibiting behaviour that he can only describe as that of someone possessed, yet he has no belief in the supernatural. He soon discovers that this had been nothing other than a terrible, haunting vision. After discovering a terrible secret about his wife, Brandon meets a strange figure with knowledge about his life that he cannot possibly know. His visions become frequent and terrible enough to make him question his sanity. Brandon must either side with this figure or his wife before his daughter comes to harm. Alice Hamilton, a shy and quiet university student meets the most handsome man she has ever met, Niel Curtis, whilst on a night out with her friends. She is bewildered when he approaches her, and they very quickly fall for one another. Niel is involved in a terrible traffic accident and ends up in a coma. Fearing he may never wake up, Alice makes a deal with a strange voice, unaware of the consequences that follow. When Niel awakes, his behaviour has drastically changed, and Alice, like Brandon, becomes subject to nightmarish, violent visions.
