About The Shadow of Paradise
After graduating from college with the intention of pursuing a PhD in psychology, Edmund Gavoti begins questioning his future. Determined to understand what he wants in his career and life, Edmund ventures out on an extravagant trip to an isolated community residing in the heart of the jungle. Once there, he begins learning about the world through the lens of other people who have experienced some of the most intriguing pasts. Unfortunately for Edmund, however, this community is still not stimulating enough of his desires; this angst is amplified when he meets a suspect tour guide, Adorjan, who offers to take Edmund on a trip through the real jungle environment. Edmund seizes this opportunity. After gathering two of his friends, the group of four ventures into the wilderness, exploring what few have ever seen. Originally beginning on a pleasant trajectory, complications begin to emerge in the trip, cascading into a network of misfortune. For Edmund, this means separation from his group in one of the most inhospitable environments in the world. Armed with limited survival skills and no communication, Edmund must endure the inimical world surrounding him. After the days of solitude compile, his psyche deteriorates, plagued by constant tests and waning hope, only to be washed away by misery.
