A beautiful tropical island off the coast of Thailand is where we find ambitious UK lawyer, Ben McCann. Having escaped the lunacy of working in Hong Kong a few years previously, he had started another law firm in Koh Samui, expecting a calmer life. Things do not work out like that as we follow the lives and tribulations of Ben and his colleagues. Ben attends a local Muay Thai boxing camp in an attempt to get fit, and makes a good friend in of one of the resident boxers. Whilst on holiday back home in the UK, Ben hears that his friend had been killed in the ring by his Thai opponent, during a nationally televised fight. Suspicious circumstances lead to Ben making his own enquiries, resulting in a private prosecution for manslaughter of his opponent and the fight referee. With the help of his former legal colleagues from Hong Kong, Ben attempts to uncover the conspiracy, involving an international drug cartel, and the highest echelons of Thai society. Ben and his legal team face real physical danger from the local Samui mafia during their investigations. Will Ben and his team be able to publicly uncover the true facts before they themselves fall victim to the conspirators? The story reaches a denouement in an explosive court trial which has Thailand agog.
