About the book
About The Lost and Found A Contemporary Travelling Thriller of Good, Bad and Bohemian All Pursuing Their Passions - However Pure Or Perverse.
To find ourselves, we must first lose ourselves, in love, in cultures, in our concept of who and why we are. Jake and Alessandra, a mid-twenties Welsh/Catalonian couple seeking their own passages away from their working-class rites, have been travelling around the world and have now bought their first home in Australia: a 1989 Toyota Hiace Campervan. Though to extend their stay and pay their way, they must partake in farm work deep in the Outback. Arriving in Crumboola, Daniel's nowhere-town in which he owns the hostels and is mediator between motley backpackers and their visa-extending farm work, Jake and Aless discover a secular place with an innately oppressive atmosphere. More lord of the land than landlord, Daniel vies for control and dominion over all beneath him which is enabled by preying on the nubile nomads that deliver themselves to him and pay for the privilege. Aless and Jake's spiritual journey of self-definition and unrivalled freedom collides with the antiquated but no less-acerbic ways of fascistic Daniel and his rigged curriculum that no one graduates from unscathed.
