We hadn't even noticed how long Marissa had been gone, until we heard a blood-curdling scream ring out from within a densely wooded area, not far from where we'd set up camp. The sound of it was so shocking that it sobered all of us up instantaneously. Asis was the first to jump up and run toward the woods. The rest of us followed a few steps behind. Every one of us raced into the wooded area, calling out Marissa's name as we ran. No other sound had been heard after her initial scream, and that worried us to no end. I must admit, this initial situation scared the shit out of me. "Marissa!" Asis shouted out while running as fast as he could. We all began to shout her name even louder, hoping to hear a reply, but none ever came. As we approached a small clearing, something immediately caught Asis's attention and he slowed down. By this time, it was very dark outside, and it had become very hard to see more than a few feet away in the dense woods. Asis and I took out our cellphones to give us some searching light. As we moved closer to whatever it was Asis had seen lying on the ground nearby, we all gasped in horror, when we found out what it was.
