About The Boy Who Came Back

A malevolent teenager has returned to Mockingbird Lane from reform school... And he's out for blood unless the neighborhood kids can stop him. It's the summer of 1981, and all that 12-year-old Penny wants is to build a fort in the creek with the other neighborhood boys, like she has every year since moving to Mockingbird Lane. But when a sinister teen returns from juvenile hall, whispers of his violent past have Penny on edge. Caleb Devlin's reign of terror happened before Penny and her little brother moved in, but they've heard plenty of rumors of tortured animals, arson, and injuring other kids. Now that he's back, the adults are certain he's up to his old antics. But the police won't do anything without proof. When their fort is sabotaged and Penny's little brother becomes collateral damage, she and her friends know that Caleb is out for revenge - and they're his next target. If they can't stop him, no one will. And if they can't stop him, it may cost someone their life... A sleepy suburban summer is filled with dread in this tense and fast-paced thriller by acclaimed New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Holm.
