Lord Dunsany was a prominent Anglo-Irish author and playwright. Dunsany was a prolific writer and his fantasy fiction was a major influence on other great authors such as Tolkien and Lovecraft. Dunsany was also notable for being the chess champion and pistol-shooting champion of Ireland. Many of his short story collections as well as his novel, The King of Elfand's Daughter, are still widely read today. The Book of Wonder, published in 1912, is a collection of fourteen fantasy short stories.
