About The Ashbury Hideaway: A Prequel to The Haight Mystery Series

When Marie Spracklin’s old friend Raymond dies in Vietnam in August 1967, she blames the man who advised Ray to enlist – her father, SFPD Lieutenant Jimmy Spracklin. A sixteen-year-old A student, Marie can no longer live under the same roof as her Dad, so she runs away to Haight-Ashbury. She plans to vanish among the thousands of hippies celebrating the Summer of Love. She soon learns the harsh realities of trying to survive amid addicts, burglars and sexual predators. With her father patrolling the street in a desperate attempt to find her, she finds the best protection she can – with a novice member of Hells Angels. The Ashbury Hideaway is a prequel to The Haight Crime Series, a novella that will introduce you to the series' wonderful characters and the circus atmosphere of Haight-Ashbury at its zenith.
