About the book
About Some Time in New York A Crime Thriller
Robin Masters is a lover of fictionalized serious crime and pulp fiction. He's seen every episode of Law and Order, Magnum P.I., Banacek and solved every murder before Jessica Fletcher. He hopes one day to live in the Hawaiian Islands, on a beach front estate, where he will write bestselling crime fiction surrounded by beautiful women. Robin was raised on a steady literary diet of James Patterson, Elmore Leonard, Agatha Christie and J.D. Robb and thought, before he seriously studied literature at the University of Pennsylvania, that if a novel didn't have a dead body and a cop, it sucked. Today Robin works in the prosecutor's office in a large U.S. city where he protects innocent citizens from deadly criminals and super villains all the while collecting ideas, stories and characters for his next best and greatest crime thriller. Some Time In New YorkNicole Michelle, an undercover police officer working for the Criminal Investigation Division of the NYPD, in the mid 60's, is catapulted to stardom when she singlehandedly saves the life of the daughter of a wealthy newspaper publisher. Here's a quick preview. As she walked out of the elevator, the gate slammed shut and the hum of the elevator motor faded within moments. The only sound she heard now, where faint moans that came from the occupied rooms. The light in the cold hall flicked. She paused when she heard squeaking wheels coming from around the corner just ahead. Tony appeared dressed as a room service attendant. He then nodded to room 1010, and knocked on the door. Nicole stood to the left of the door and crossed her arms. "Yeah." A man said from behind the door. "Room service." Tony said. Nicole pulled out from her jacket pocket a bottle of chloroform. She reached into the other pocket and pulled out a white handkerchief, and dosed it with the chloroform. Benton opened the door and smiled and said, "That was quick." When he turned to go back into the room, Nicole walked up behind him and placed the handkerchief over his face. Benton passed out and fell to the floor. Seconds later, Benton was out cold. Nicole looked at the hooker who was lying on the bed and threw a wad of money over to her. "I'm going to need you to come down to the station and I.D. the guy who hired you to lure Charlie here." The hooker looked at the wade of cash and smiled. "Shit for this I'd consider testifying in court." Nicole looked over her shoulder and said, "I really don't think it'll come to that." "I don't need to I.D. him. I know who he was." Nicole turned and walked closer and asked, "Who?" "That playwright. Whatsaface." "Playwright? What are you talking about?" "The guy everyone is calling a genius. He's a freak and then some." "Scott Barton?" Nicole asked. "Yeah that's him. He was a student at Columbia that's how the two met." Nicole walked towards the door and looked back. She said, "Stay alive." "Don't you want to know what bar he goes to?" Nicole stopped and started to breath heavy. She turned and looked and titled her head to the left. "Smittie's in the Villages. Scott picks up a lot of girls there. You know it?" "I know it." Nicole said. The hooker counted the money and said, "You're his type, but smarter."
