About Sleeping with a Monster

The city was a canvas painted in shades of grey - the perpetual drizzle mirroring the bleakness in Sherill Greene's heart. Years. It had been years since the first body, a young woman found discarded like refuse in an alleyway, a King James Bible open to the Book of Revelation lying beside her. The Preacher, they called him. Not for any overt religious fervor displayed at the scenes, but for the chilling precision with which he selected his verses, each one a perverse commentary on his latest victim. Each one a taunt, a cruel riddle flung in the face of the city's finest. And Sherill, a seasoned detective with a haunted gaze and hands perpetually stained with the residue of countless crime scenes, was leading the charge.
