Mark and Tina Donahue of Palmer Industries are renting in the northern part of the island in High Bar Harbor, NJ with their team attempting to solve a problem with one of the materials they use in wound dressings and contact lenses. When Mark stumbles on a new use of the material they are studying, their little foray to solve a minor problem turns into a major environmental discovery. Unbeknownst to any of them, they are being watched. What methods will be utilized in an effort to acquire this intellectual property? Microdots, abduction and murder? A dead body washing onto her dock and chance encounters with the scientists in Charleston and St. Martin lead to greater intrigue when Miranda feels compelled to bring home a strange pair of dolls left behind in St. Martin by Tina Donahue.
