About the book

About Shaft City

When a young girl disappears from a settlement of drifters and misfits deep in the Arizona desert, troubled private investigator Mack Chase is sure he knows who's responsible... but booze, personal vendettas, and tainted genes may be clouding his judgment. Nearly two decades before Mack and his friends Abel and Hemlock were children growing up in Shaft City. It was the only life they'd ever known - quirky and bizarre, but wholesome - until one day when a heinous incident changed their lives forever. Now as adults they thought they'd put the past behind them, but when the unthinkable happens their sinister bond will pull them back together. Shaft City is the first novel in a '60s whodunit series featuring Mack Chase and his beautiful Irish - Native American sidekick Hemlock Sage. It's classic noir. A perfect fit for those who like their heroes and heroines tough, dark, and hopelessly flawed.
