In the Spring of 1954, Marshal Stuart abruptly uproots his family of five from Houston, Texas, to relocate to Boston, Massachusetts. The rationale is unclear to his three children, two of whom resent the sudden move interrupting their school studies and relationships. However, pouting gives way to excitement and imaginings of possible adventures at the end of their journey and into this mysterious future. Lizzy, the family’s twelve-year-old adventuress, and her nine-year-old brother Kevin are equally avid junior detectives. They soon find the mysteries of their new residence a real and dangerous challenge to their investigative skills. Late-night confrontations with hideous, surreal beings while examining the facts of a century-old unsolved tragedy expose the children to dangers and adventure opportunities
