About the book
About Sciorrfhocail
Three short stories and a novella, written in Irish by a Finn. The short stories Craiceann ("Sex") and Ainmhian na Máistreása Óige ("The Passion of the Young Schoolmistress") are basically only erotic entertainment. The short story Béarlóir Deireanach an Domhain ("The Last English-Speaker of the World") is situated in an alternative timeline, where English has given way to Irish as an international language, the narrator of the story being the last native speaker of English in the world. The novella Tachtaimis an Grá Sin ("Let's suffocate that love") is a tragic story about young love and racism in a small town in Eastern Finland, closely modelled on the author's home town Varkaus. The book was illustrated by the writer's brother.
