Two days before Christmas, an unprecedented blizzard forces the closure of airports across western Canada and the US. A jumbo jet low on fuel lands in Calgary and slides off the icy runway. The airport mobilizes immediately, only for the emergency to devolve into a hijacking, putting hundreds of lives at risk. Meanwhile, a Royal Air Force Learjet, carrying a young royal couple unable to land in Calgary, is diverted to a rural airport nearby. The blizzard rages, burying everything under several feet of snow as the city is brought to a screeching halt.
